Teacher Academy ... It's The End For Class of 2013

Wow, I can’t believe that this year is coming to an end. I've been in Teacher Academy since day one. I won’t forget all the good times we had with each other. All the fun memories we made together. Or the good food we made in class or brought to class because we were celebrating something. Or we just wanted to bring food so we could all eat breakfast in the morning. Any who, Teacher Academy has really shaped me into the student I am today. It gave me so much confidence to talk in front of people. It has made me gain the confidence & knowing that I could do anything if I just put so much work & dedication into it. Teacher Academy is one of my best moments I've had during my years in high school. I won’t even forget all my classmates in that class & Mrs. Torres as well. But the one person who I adventured through Teacher Academy was Kai. Kai … We finally did it. We worked so hard together in that class. We made many presentations together. We ate good food together. We also helped each other succeed in that class. We were also queens for a day from doing Cara’s activity.

When I started Teacher Academy, I thought it would be easy. It was at most parts, but then it wasn't. throughout my life, I looked up to teachers as a role model. Especially my mom. During my years in elementary, my mom was there throughout the whole time. She helped with the school in so much that she could. She made me want to be a teacher. To help students. To help them succeed. To make their goals & dreams come true by giving them the knowledge & capacity to do anything if they put a lot of work & determination into everything they do. I could say that my expectations for this program came through. I wanted to be like those teachers who I looked up to. How they weren't afraid to speak in front of the class. How they always did so much in so little time for us. Being in Teacher Academy gave me those things. I am glad that I took that class. I've gained so much confidence in myself that I will carry on to succeed in life.
I've had so many great experiences learning so much material in Teacher Academy. Learning how to be an effective teacher by studying Harry K. Wong’s First Days of School helped me a lot. It taught me how to have an effective classroom. Hot to run it the way you want it by being effective. How to dress for success & so much more. When I start teaching in a class room of my own, I will take what I learned from Harry K. Wong to be the successful teacher I know I can be. Also, Bloom’s Taxonomy. At first, I didn't get it. But as time went by & we were learning about it together, I finally understood it. I will also take that with me to my teaching. Even learning so many genres & studying about Children’s Literature.

Wow, I really love my Student Teaching experiences. Just being there & helping them really felt like that was my own students & my own classroom. I helped them a lot in writing & in math as well. I gave them confidence in themselves to not be afraid to present in the class. I really had fun grading papers with them. Or even calling on students to read out a portion in class & then answer questions together. Oh, & even when we had break together. Playing on the play ground together or even sharing each other’s snacks. Also, I felt like I was in the fourth grade all over again. When I was in the fourth grade, I struggled so much that I taught I wasn't going to pass. But then I did with the help of my family. But when I was doing my Student Teaching at KES, I felt like I was in the fourth grade all over again. Learning those materials & finally understanding them with the help of the students there & my mentor teacher. I can say that I am not only graduating as a senior in high school, but as a fourth grader in elementary as well.

I don’t really remember anything I taught my mentor teacher that she uses in her classroom. But I do know that I helped my students with lots of things to help them succeed as a student. I taught them the difference between which spelling goes for each word & which to use for the sentences they create. I gave them confidence & determination to present in front of the class with no worries.

Mrs. Torres … one thing to improve in the program is to just get a little bit more students in it. But other than that, I really love your class. Even having so little students in class too is okay because it gives more one on one learning with the teacher to the student. Also, it’s not as loud like any other class. We bond closer as a class when there aren't much people in it. Everyone is close with everyone. There aren't any clicks in class or anything like that. We are like a family in that class & there shouldn't be any change to it. It’s perfect the way it is.

Hmmm, I am going to miss each & everyone one of you when I graduate. I don’t want to go in detail with that comment because it’s going to be so sad for me & also I can’t say good bye yet. But one thing I do want to say is – Please make lots of memories while you’re all in Teacher Academy. Also, make lots of memories while you’re still in high school because time goes by fast when you don’t even notice it. So have fun & please don’t do anything you’re going to regret.
Lots of Love & Best Wishes,
Remae Bowie (Beds) – Graduating Senior of 2013
